We're looking for a Backend Engineer who has fully embraced the AI-driven development workflow.

We believe in a future where engineers use their reasoning skills, architectural mindset, and attention to detail to guide AI-powered tools in generating code. This approach significantly increases development velocity—but your name is still on the commit. That means you’ll need a holistic, thoughtful, and slightly defensive mindset to review AI-generated code, make sound architectural decisions, and ensure quality throughout.

This way of working places less emphasis on your specific software language background. That said, our codebase primarily uses Python and Kotlin, and we plan to continue down that path.

In this role, you'll be instrumental in modernizing our core product—a platform that handles billions in transactions annually and supports veterinary clinics across EMEA, the US, and Australia.

We're now focused on scaling and modernizing this product: reducing technical debt, unifying the architecture and deployment processes, and continuously delivering new features to empower our customers and partners.

What You’ll Do

• Backend Development – Build and maintain scalable backend services in Python and Java.
• AI code flow - continue rolling out modern tools and ways-of-working to help the team increase velocity.
• System Architecture – Contribute to system design and architecture to support growth and modernization.
• Infrastructure & DevOps – Work with Terraform, Docker, DevOps, and AWS to enhance our cloud-based infrastructure.
• Business-Critical Development – Build features that help suppliers, clinics, and VetFamily manage contracts, transactions, and product recommendations.
• Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams – Work alongside tech leads, full-stack developers, data scientists, and product owners in Sweden and France.

About You

• Experience in Ai powered development: embraced chatGPT and later transitioned to cody/cursor/copilot.
• Python (Django preferred) and Java.
• Experience in system architecture and software design.
• Ability to work in a complex product environment.
• Strong communication skills and business understanding – You ask the right questions, understand revenue models, and see the big picture.
• Experience with Terraform, Docker, DevOps, and AWS.
• Passion for animals, veterinary technology, or pet-related industries.
• A social person who want to work with coworkers in our office in stockholm.
